Overview

The Duke AI Hackathon 2025 challenges college students to build a complete AI-powered application that solves real-world problems. This event focuses on going beyond just AI models and integrating them into functional software. It's a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, foster entrepreneurship, and develop your technical skills.

Requirements

This hackathon is exclusively for college students, regardless of their major or technical background. All participants must be in the US and above the legal age of majority. Teams can have up to 4 students. You'll need to build an application that leverages AI to address a problem from one of the five tracks. For submission, you must provide a well-documented GitHub repository explaining your project, its purpose, and technology stack, along with screenshots or a product demo of your application.

Prizes

There are 6 non-cash prizes available. The Grant Prize winner receives $1500 in OpenAI credits, $250 in Cerebras credits, and a feedback meeting with an OpenAI representative. The 2nd place winner gets $750 in OpenAI credits, and the 3rd place winner receives $250 in OpenAI credits. Additionally, there are track-specific prizes: $300 Visa gift card for the Enterprise Tools & Productivity Track winner, a $300 Visa gift card for the Health & Wellness Track winner, and a $500 prize for the Robotics Track winner.
