Zoom AI Companion 2.0

Zoom has introduced AI Companion 2.0, a helpful tool to boost productivity and enhance collaboration within the Zoom Workplace. This smart assistant keeps users organized and focused on important work throughout their day.

AI Companion 2.0 understands what users are viewing in the Zoom Workplace app and remembers prior interactions to offer relevant suggestions. It gathers information from various sources like Zoom Meetings, Zoom Team Chat, Zoom Docs, Zoom Mail, and connected third party applications such as Microsoft Outlook and Google Calendar. The new version of AI Companion can identify and complete next steps and action items. With the upcoming launch of Zoom Tasks in late 2024, users will be able to surface, track, and complete actions across Zoom Workplace, making task management easier.

Users can ask questions like "What does this acronym mean?" or "What is this discussion about?" to stay informed. AI Companion can summarize unread messages in Zoom Team Chat and recap email threads. This helps users stay up to date on important conversations without getting overwhelmed by unread chats. This feature allows users to quickly catch up on missed discussions and identify action items.

AI Companion 2.0 can generate content for various purposes, such as blogs, outlines, and itineraries. Users can also edit documents and change the tone of their drafts with the help of AI Companion. This feature is particularly useful for starting projects and creating well informed first drafts.

AI Companion can analyze and summarize complex documents, making it easier for users to sift through information without having to read the entire document. This feature is particularly useful for understanding key points and action items in lengthy documents.

Zoom also announced a custom AI Companion add on, available in the first half of 2025 for 12 dollars per user per month. This add on allows organizations to tailor AI workflows to their specific needs, connecting preferred apps and data sources to empower AI Companion as a "super agent" across multiple platforms. The customization capabilities will be powered by Zoom AI Studio, enabling users to add knowledge collections, define vocabulary for fine tuning models, and develop specialized skills for specific meeting types.
