History

The village got its name from Maha Singh of the Thal desert, who lived during Maharaja Ranjit Singh''s rule, making it at least 200 years old. Maha Singh''s descendants, known as Jagirdars, still live there. Thalla is famous for the Shaheed Mohinder Singh Tiger BSF Annual Memorial Tournament, which happens in December.
