HEXPlore
HEXPlore is a tool that lets you work with others to explore binary files. It helps you see, add notes to, and share what you find with a simple hex editor. This makes it great for modern reverse engineering.
HEXPlore is also a role playing video game from 1998, made by Heliovisions Productions and published by Infogrames Multimedia. It was released digitally on December 20, 2019, by Piko Interactive on GOG com. The game is set in the year 1000 AD, and you play as MacBride, an adventurer. Early on, you meet three friends: an archer named Drulak, a warrior named Vigrad, and a sorcerer named Uraeus. Your main goal is to find Garkham, the black magician, to save your friends who were captured.
The game has over 200 levels with puzzles and battles. You can play with up to 4 friends in cooperative multiplayer mode. Characters can join or leave your group in later missions, and most are optional, so you can choose who to bring on future adventures. The game uses voxels to create 3D shapes and levels quickly. You view the game world from above, and you can rotate the camera around the center of your view. Reviews for Hexplore were average. Next Generation said, "Hexplore is not like Diablo, but it is a good start for new players. They can try harder games later, once they learn how to play."
