How to Install the ChatGPT Search Chrome Extension

1. Go to the ChatGPT search extension page

2. Click the blue 'Add to Chrome' button

3. Confirm the installation when prompted

Once installed, you can search using ChatGPT search by typing directly into your browser's address bar.

8. If you want to use the 4o-mini model, enter the URL as https://chatgpt.com/?hints=search&temporary-chat=true&model=gpt-4o-mini and press Add

9. To use ChatGPT search, start typing @chatgpt in your browser and press 'Tab' before entering the query

Accessing ChatGPT Search

Note: You must be logged in to chatgpt.com to use ChatGPT search. This extension will make ChatGPT your default search engine in Chrome. Once ChatGPT has been set as your default search engine, you can search directly via your browser URL bar.

To redirect a query to Google search, type "!g [your query]" (e.g. !g foobar) directly in your browser URL bar.

ChatGPT Search Availability

Currently, access to ChatGPT search is limited. You can get access if you were on the original waitlist or if you pay for ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 (about £16 / AU$30) a month. If you were on the original waitlist, you'll get access even on the free tier.
